ALEXANDRA ROSEMAN, EXTERN

Alexandra Roseman is a first year student at Long Island University Brooklyn in the Clinical Psychology PhD program. Under the supervision of Dr. Bellet at BHBA, Alex will be assisting with intakes, working as an individual therapist and as a skills group co-leader, and participating in weekly DBT consult meetings. As a native New Yorker, Alex is excited to be back in NYC and to be a part of the BHBA team, especially given its multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care. She is especially interested in DBT due to its strong roots in behavioral science, yet continued adaptability and effectiveness in treating a spectrum of cases and diverse patient populations.

Alex completed her B.A., cum laude, in Psychological Sciences at the University of Vermont in 2016. As an undergraduate, she established a strong foundation in psychology through teaching undergraduate psychology courses, conducting research in social cognition labs, and volunteering at the University of Vermont Medical Center. For the past three years, she worked in clinical research at Boston Children’s Hospital at the intersection of Psychiatry and Cardiology. She conducted psychosocial and neuropsychological assessments for pediatric and adult clinical trials involving a broad spectrum of patients with congenital heart disease.

Her clinical and research experiences have given her insight into the importance of integrative care to facilitate meaningful improvements in clinical practices. As a future clinician, Alex is interested in improving patient quality of life through better synchronizing psychosocial, neuropsychological, and medical care. How could the application of a comprehensive lens better inform our understanding of patient specific needs? Working with BHBA, and DBT specifically, she believes that efforts to personalize mental health care are attainable and long-term positive outcomes can be sustainable.

In her free time, Alex enjoys playing tennis, seeing live music, relaxing at home, and being a proud dog Aunt to a newly adopted lab-pit mix from Tennessee!
