Emily Sinrod, Clinical Extern
Emily Sinrod is a clinical extern at Brooklyn Heights Behavioral Psychology Associates. She is a first year PhD student studying Clinical Psychology at Long Island University Brooklyn. Emily is passionate about trauma informed care practices and women’s health issues.
Emily received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology at Tufts University in 2022. She worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, serving as a Clinical Research Coordinate on the Women’s Hormones and Aging Research Project. Emily investigated hormonal and neural basis of depression, sleep disturbance, stress, hot flashes, and metabolism in menopausal women and women with breast cancer. She also was a research intern at McLean Hospital’s Laboratory for Affective and Translational Neuroscience, where she studied the neurobiological mechanisms linking childhood sexual abuse and major depressive disorder in young women.
In addition to her research, Emily has experience as a sexual and mental health volunteer educator, teaching 9th grade health classes with Peer Health Exchange in the greater Boston area. She also served as an Emergency Medical Technician in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, providing critical care and crisis intervention with her transport team in the community. Emily is deeply committed to serving vulnerable populations with compassion, through her experiences in service, education, and care.
Emily is dedicated to fostering a supportive and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and empowered. She integrates empathy with evidence-based practices to help individuals work toward their personal goals and navigate life’s challenges. Emily is particularly passionate about supporting women’s mental health and individuals who have experienced trauma, with an approach that emphasizes both healing and growth. In her free time, she enjoys dance, playing guitar, cooking, and exploring around Brooklyn.
